RERA Carpet Area Inspection

RERA has asked all developers to sell apartments based on carpet area only. As per RERA, carpet area is described as ‘the net usable floor area of an apartment, excluding the area covered by the external walls, areas under services shafts, exclusive balcony or verandah area and exclusive open terrace area, but includes the area covered by the internal partition walls of the apartment’. As a homebuyer is a layperson and they may not be familiar with find out actual RERA carpet area, they can appoint a home inspector to derive actual RERA carpet area of home or apartment.
